On our first trip to New York City, we spent half a day walking around asking each other "What do you want to do?", "Where do you want to eat?". We ended up eating at an overpriced, lousy place b/c there wasn't a wait (red flag).
NEVER AGAIN!

Instructions for Use
Itineraries on this site should be used as a starting point for you to edit/customize your own itinerary.
Itineraries are designed to have no downtime. If you need downtime, you can always skip steps.
Tours may seem expensive but are worth it if: a. you are interested in the subject and b. the tour guide is passionate about the subject which is usually the case.
Tours that span a large area (Bike tour in Key West/Boston/Austin, Walking Tour of French Quarter) are best early in the 3dayvacation b/c you find places to visit, eat, and drink.
Planning early and building around an event is fun. We saw Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden, Elton John at Caesars Palace, the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park, Cubs v Cardinals at Busch Stadium, etc.
Important: we are not being paid for any recommendations. All recommendations are from actual experience, we just want you to have a good time over and over again.
Our favorite things may not be the same as yours
Local Experiences. When in Austin, Chicken Shit Bingo. When in Boston, Freedom Trail, When in St. Louis, Gateway Arch. When in Dallas, JFK. You get the idea.
Biking - we prefer Biking Tours and renting bikes over walking. You can cover more ground and see more things on bike, plus some exercise to earn that beer later on.
Breweries - this is our down time, flights of beer at great breweries. Really like the biking and brewery tours, winning combo.
Entertainment Music: We prefer cover bands over unknown musicians. Sorry, just like to hear songs we know. Try to go to bars/breweries, and small local venues. We saw Yacht Rock Review at the Scoot Inn in Austin and Saved by the 90's at the Orange Peel in Asheville.
Entertainment Sports: We're not huge baseball fans but have enjoyed seeing ballgames where fans are crazy and ballparks are famous. Pregames at Fenway, Wrigley, and Busch are loud, obnoxious fun.
Entertainment Comedy: In lieu of music, we may go to a comedy club. Always do Comedy Cellar in New York, saw a good act in Denver, and also Chicago.
Street Art/Murals: We have enjoyed Street Art Tours in Miami, Chicago, New Orleans, and Denver. The guides are always passionate, the talent of the artists is unbelievable.
Food: Always look for best Pizza and Bagels. Also, try to do local (BBQ in Austin, Pizza in NY and Chicago, Italian in St. Louis, and cajun in New Orleans). Seek out the quirky, interesting breakfast spots and generally skip lunch in lieu of snacks/samples/appetizers. We are not expensive white table cloth people.
Consignment/Thrift Shopping: This is hobby for us. We like to find diamonds in the rough at consignment shops. The cities are full of items that wealthy people wore once or twice before shipping to the consignment shop.
